The Carolina Spring Go
Tournament, organized by the Chinese
American Friendship Association of North Carolina
(CAFA)
, Confucius
Institute at NC State
, and Cary Go Club,
will be held on Sunday, April 19th, 2015. This is an annual American Go
Association (AGA) rated tournament in its 12th year. This tournament is open to
everyone. Players of all levels are welcome – we will group players into
different sections based on their strength. Players will play four rounds of
games against players within each section. Top players finish in each section
will receive a prize and an award certificate.

Young players – under 18 years of age could form a 3-person team to compete in both individual competitions and the team competitions.
Parents could drop their kids at 9:00am and pick up them at the end of the tournament around 5:30pm. Lunch and drinks will be provided.

Format: 4 rounds, 30 minutes and five
30-second byo-yomi periods per player. One hour break for lunch after the
second round.

Tournament Fee and AGA Membership
Fee
: The
tournament will collect tournament entry fees in order to provide foods and
drinks for each participant, and cash prizes for players who finish in the top
two of each section.

Tournament Fee:

$20 for adults

$15 for youth (under 21 years old)

 

AGA Membership Fee – if you don’t
have an AGA membership, you may apply one online at the AGA website or on-site:

$30/year for adult

$10/year for youth

Prizes:
There will be 5 or more sections. Each section will have at least one prize
winner and the divisions with stronger players will have larger prizes. The
exact prizes will depend on the tournament turn-out.

Lunch:
We will provide pizzas, snacks and drinks on-site.
